My {Other} Early Talker

About a week before Dawson hit the 9 month mark I was feeding him a bottle after a rather large bowl of oatmeal and he pushed his bottle away and said, clear as day, "Ahhhhh dunnnnnn!"I was shocked.  I mean, Bridger talked early.  And a lot.  But he didn't say a thing at 9 months old besides "Dadadadadada"

I have been signing to Dawson, just like I did with Bridger (though not nearly as diligently) and I'm sure that is where the "All Done" came from.  We sign that after every meal.

But, since that time, Dawson has expanded his vocabulary even further.  He now says:  Dad, Bridger (which he says surprisingly clear when he wants to), Dog, and he says 'Nana' for Mama.  4 words and a phrase isn't bad for a 9.5 month old!

Other tricks include: waving, leaning over pretending to fall and letting out a little high pitched screetch ("Aaaaahhhhhhh!") and giving his cheeser face when he is frustrated (see photo below).  He has also figured out how to open drawers.

Dawson worships Bridger and watches his every move.  He laughs at him and longs to do whatever he is doing.

Dawson is now officially a professional crawler.  Though he still prefers the army crawl, just like his older brother did.  His army crawl resembles more of a zombie drag and so I often lovingly refer to him as "my little zombie".  He has been crawling for about a month.

As of this morning, Dawson has 2 teeth which were a VERY long time coming but finally arrived while he was sleeping last night--no wonder it was such a rough night.

Despite his first 7 months of life, Dawson has turned into quite the little sleeper.  He is FINALLY on a schedule which means that this Mama feels a little more sane.  He takes 2-2 hour naps/day and goes to sleep about 8-8:30 every night and sleeps for about 12 hours. Ahhh....life is just better when we all get sleep.

Obviously, a lot of this post is for journaling purposes so I want to include a little story about Dawson.

Typically when I mow the lawn I'll ride with Dawson on my lap in the front yard and Bridger in the back yard and put Dawson in a stroller to watch us.  Every time we pass Dawson, we'll yell "Hi Daws!" and wave to him.  Well, the other night Dawson was not wanting to go to sleep so I decided to take him out to mow the lawn with me while Scott weeded our beds and Bridger slept.  (We were preparing the yard for Bridger's 3rd birthday party.)  We mowed the front and then moved to the back.  We had finished most of the back yard when Scott came back to do somethings and every time we drove by him, cute little Dawson would raise up his arm and wave to him.  Scott didn't realize what was going on because his back was to him, but it was so sweet to see that part of Dawson's personality.  He is definitely a sweetheart, a cuddlier, and a keeper!  We couldn't love him any more!
