The 4th of July is kind of a big deal with my family. We make it an all day celebratory affair by attending many of Kaysville City's events. I remember attending the parade when I was a little girl. It is a lot bigger event now. I can't believe how many thousands of people attend (and from a bunch of other cities) but, I must say, I kind of think that Kaysville does one heck of a parade!
This year was no different from years past. We woke up, packed up the crew and spent the day enjoying the heat and sunshine.
Scott & Dad ate at the city breakfast while the rest of us waited for the parade to start under Patrick & Megon's canopy. It pretty much worked out perfectly. We had shade and a great spot once the parade started.
The Steinbach crew also made the drive up and joined us for the parade! We were glad they came so we could spend some time with them and they could see how crazy we are about the Kaysville Parade. (I should probably insert an apology here for my competitive nature...get out of my way 10-year old boy! I want candy!!!)

Bridger enjoyed the parade but was very concerned about how loud it was. He spend about 50% of the time with his hands over his ears....or Grandma's hands. Dawson wasn't too interested in floats and candy this year. Since the parade coincided with his nap time, he was mostly trying to figure out a way to get comfortable so he could fall asleep. Thanks to Grandpa and Grandma's snuggles, he finally got some much needed rest. :)
The kids all scored big at the parade. I always laugh at how much candy and junk we get. It is funny how hard you try to go after the free stuff and yet, when you come home, you realize how pathetic it was that you worked so hard to get $5 worth of candy and dollar store toys. Oh well. It's all for the kids right? (Yes, as long as I can claim giant-kid status...)

When the parade ended we went home and put the kids down for naps. I mowed the lawn. Scott worked on the Dog-ma-hal for a bit. It was a lazy afternoon.
Once the kids woke up we cleaned up and went over to Patrick and Megon's for some yummy BBQ. We spent some time relaxing there and then went over to the high school for the city fireworks show. It didn't disappoint this year! Dawson even enjoyed watching (this was his first fireworks show) and the noise didn't seem to bother him. We did try to cover his ears but the little wiggle worm wanted nothing of it.
