Gettin' Dirty.

A few months ago Scott's sister Megan invited me to do The Dirty Dash up at Soldier Hollow with her.  I hate running but since this was a mockery of the traditional race and a muddy obstacle course,  how could we say no?  I'm still considering putting the race sticker on my car window. ;)

Before
Megan, who is in much better shape than I am, told me that she isn't a runner and wasn't going to train so, I didn't either.  That probably wasn't one of my brightest ideas since Megan hits the gym a few times a week and I haven't been to one since...well, 2008.  Next time I'll actually do some physical exercise before I try to just run 6 miles, in the mud, while jumping over haystacks and swimming through mud pipes.  But--we made it! And had a hilarious time in the process.  I'm glad we ended up doing the longer (10k) route because the second half was a lot of fun.  Scott's sister Ashley even showed her support by climbing up and over mountains in her 8-month-pregnant state to take some pictures of us and cheer us on.  What a trooper.  Glad we didn't put her into labor.

We also had support from Scott, Dave (Megan's husband), all of our kids, Ella, Cole and Scott's parents--I'm pretty sure they thought we were completely crazy--which we may be--but it was awesome!

Porter, Logan and Dave also got to run the Piglet Plunge which was a shorter version of the route the adults did.  It was fun to watch them come in!  Logan was all about the mud--I knew he would be! Porter had more fun getting cousin Cole dirty. ;)

Emry and Bridger were quite confused as to why their mommies were so dirty.  Bridger frequently reminds me, "Mommy, do you remember when you ran in the mud?  That was so silly. And you tried to give me a kiss and you had mud on your face! "

After

Even though I had mud in every crevice of my body, I had a lot of fun and look forward to doing it again next year.....right, Megan?
