Father's Day 2013

What a wonderful day we had yesterday celebrating Father's Day with both sides of our family.

The boys and I woke up and gave Scott his presents/cards first thing.  Instead of picking out cards from the boys I interviewed them and asked them questions about Scott that he could watch.  For Dawson's I basically just asked questions and told him to laugh if he agreed.  Things like--Does Daddy give good snuggles? (then he would giggle), Do you love Daddy? (more giggles), Do you think Daddy is handsome? (giggles).  For Bridger I asked several questions ranging from Scott's physical appearance to things they like to do together.  I was happy with how both videos turned out and I can already tell it will be one of the videos we frequently look back to and admire how cute they are at this age. ;)  Scott received a leaf blower, knee pads for weeding and a shirt (pictured below).

After opening gifts we got ready for church and went to my parents ward with them.  It was fun to spend time with them and my mom happened to be teaching Relief Society so it was fun to be there for that.  When church was over we had Mom & Dad come over to our house for brunch.  We made Dad's favorite--French Toast with cheese. Mmmmm....

Patrick and Megon joined us and we opened presents and watched the video we had made of Bridger talking about Grandpa.  We spent the rest of the afternoon talking and enjoying one another's company.  It was an exciting time for all of us--not just the Dads.

After my family left we packed up and went to Scott's parents house for dinner.  Scott's mom made an amazing dinner as usual (my mouth waters just thinking about it) and we had a short lesson on fathers and flew airplanes outside with the cousins.  We stayed later than everyone else and chatted with Nana & Papa out on their beautiful deck.  If I didn't have children I think I might live out there and just read good books. :)

I am so grateful for Scott and the amazing father he is to our boys.  I'm also grateful to have such a wonderful father of my own.  He teaches me more than anyone else about the principle of service.  Scott's dad is also such a wonderful Dad in my life.  He is kind, thoughtful and such a Christlike person--willing to talk to and help anyone he comes in contact with.  Happy Father's Day to all three of these Dads in my life!
