It broke my heart to see him used as a pincushion. I couldn't really hold him or snuggle him because I wasn't allowed to touch his back. The ones that react also start to get really itchy so I had to keep him from scratching. (How do you explain all of this to a 17 month old?!) It was all I could do to not cry as he looked up at me and said, "BACK! SCRATCH! HURT!" It was hard on Mom.

Apparently he is also allergic to eggs but since he has never shown a physical reaction to them, the doctor recommended we keep giving them to him (unless, obviously, he starts reacting). Hopefully he will outgrow it.

So...here we go! Another dietary restriction at our house! Feel free to come over any time for a gluten-free, peanut-free snack. :)

seriously, hyd? oh my goodness! that must have been super traumatic for you. his poor back! we need to get together soon...especially since i'm on a restricted diet as well (no dairy). love you. you're an awesome mama!
POOOR Bridger!! that makes my back hurt and itch to look at :( jack's school is peanut-free and i recently found a large jar of almond butter for about $7.50. it's the best price i've seen. or the smith's by us let's you grind almonds to make fresh almond butter in smaller quantities. funnily enough, jack freaked out this morning when he saw me put AB on his sandwich and PB on henry's. um, sorry, kiddo, but you've already been eating AB for 2 years!
oh, and my brother was allergic to eggs as a kid and outgrew it...though he doesn't like to eat them.
