Easter Festivities 2014

We had such a fun Easter weekend this year spent with family!

Saturday we had Nana's Annual Easter Egg Hunt, games & lunch.  It was bittersweet realizing that this is probably the last year we will be having it here! (They have purchased a new home and will soon be moving.)  We will all miss Nana & Papa's beautiful yard…I'm sure they won't miss all of the yard work, though!

We were commenting that this was the best year yet--the kids loved the games and they all played so well together!  It is so much fun to spend time with cousins!

I was, however, so sad when they started to play the "balance the egg on your head" game. Scott & his dad, trying to be funny, put a piece of tape on Bridger's head underneath the egg to keep it on and then told him to run.  Everyone was laughing because of the prank and Bridger suddenly burst into tears!  He had never played the game before and thought that everyone was laughing at him.  He ran to me with huge tears streaming down his face.  After I walked away from everyone with him he told me, "I don't like when everyone laughs at me.  I don't like playing that game."  I felt awful.  I held him close to me and explained everything that happened and why they were laughing.  After that, he said, "Oh, okay.  I want to go play more games then!"  Experiences like this remind me that I love my sweet, innocent, tender-hearted little Bridger more than words.

On Sunday morning we got up, found where "that silly bunny" hid our baskets and then went on an Easter egg hunt in the back yard.  The Easter bunny was a little ambitious this year…there were over 100 eggs for the boys to find!  Scott told me it was just strategy so that I could get lots of photos of both boys…he may or may not be right!  :)  The boys had such a fun time!  This all happened about 7 a.m. because we have 9 a.m. church so we felt bad for our "empty nester" next door neighbors who slept with their windows open that night.  Hopefully they enjoyed the squeals and shouts of excitement coming from our children as much as we did.

None in there!

It is such hard work carrying so many candy filled eggs...
Bridger was particularly excited about his Lightening McQueen scooter!  He has also already been out searching for bugs to put in his bug box!

The Easter bunny failed in putting all of Dawson's things out!  Oh well, Dawson was happy!

We attended church together as a family and then Scott had to leave a little bit early so he could speak in another ward.  It went well and we all arrived home about the same time.  The boys took naps and I prepared some food for dinner.  When the boys went up we made the trip down to Scott's sister Megan's home.  There we met up with the rest of the family and enjoyed an amazing dinner.  Megan always does SO MUCH work and we appreciate her invitation.  As you can see from the photos, everything was just perfect!  Again, we noticed how the kids were all relatively well-behaved and got along together.  It was a memorable evening!

Notice the chocolate eggs that Meg got for each of the kids with their names written on them.  So cute!
