The first game went pretty well. They have a half an hour practice before the game starts and then have a game--no goalies and they don't keep track of score officially. Only the parents do. ;) Bridger scored a couple of goals that first game, only 1 goal in his second game and 2 in his most recent game last week. We have also upgraded and got him official cleats since the first game because, even though they aren't required, Scott was concerned that some of the other kids had them and Bridger didn't. Ah, the joys of 1st time parenthood and spoiled children!

Bridger's 1st Soccer Game
We started Bridger on a 3 year old soccer team with the city of Farmington because our city only does 5+ teams. He has been SO excited to play on a real team and "have a number on [his] shirt". :) He was, however, upset that they assigned him number 6. He said, "I wanna be number one!" (Say that in a Nacho Libre accent and it makes it better....)

At his game last week we had been preparing Bridger all week by repeating over and over..."How do you play soccer?" and he would repeat, "Get the ball. Score a goal" three times. Ha! A couple of hours before the game started I asked him if he would score a goal for me during his game. He said, "I will just try my best, Mommy." Well, within the first 5 minutes he scored a goal and what did he do? He yelled from the field, "That one was for you, Mom!" Man, that kid cracks me up sometimes.
We have 3 more weeks left of Fall soccer and then he will play again in the Spring. We are thoroughly enjoying going to his games and cheering him on! (Thanks to others who have come to support him!) And, I must say that I am enjoying my new role as "Soccer Mom"....I hope I'm always a "Soccer Mom" because baseball is much too boring! ;)
