Fathers and Sons Campout

Last weekend Scott took Bridger on their first ever Father and Sons Ward Campout.  Bridger was so excited and walked around the house all day Friday saying, "Daddy come home go camping?"  After much reassurance and a very long final-hour wait by the window waiting for Daddy to get home, Scott finally arrived, loaded up their gear and the two of them set off!

All packed up and ready to go!  Aren't they handsome?

I can't get over these little hiking boots! (Thanks, Steinbachs!)

SO excited to go!  I think he was chanting at this point...

I wasn't there (obviously) so this is the scoop I got from Scott and Bridger upon their return.

-They camped up at the Brighton Meadows Campground past Park City.

-I think Bridger was the youngest camper!

-They went fishing!  Bridger caught a fish (this big)--imagining toddler arms outstretched at this point will make this part of the story more adorable. (It really was a large, beefy trout.) Daddy picked it up, took the hook out and let it 'back in-a pond'.  Bridger liked the 'ball' also known to you fisherman out there as the bobber. ;)

-Bridger tried to swim in the pond and face planted it the first night they were there.  After all, he did keep telling Daddy, "Bridger go swimming'"

-Bridger and Daddy slept in our tent with just the two of them.  Bridger brought all of 'the guys' (his crew of stuffed animals that normally reside in his bed at home) who joined him in his pack-n-play inside the tent. Scott took the air mattress.  Bridger went down about 10 p.m. and slept 'til 1:00 a.m. when it started to get really cold.  Daddy pulled Bridger into bed with him and Bridger proceeded to talk to Daddy for the next 2 hours while Daddy tried to sleep.  (In a whisper) "Hi Daddy.  Whatcha doin'?" Scott's response?  "SLEEPING!" Over. And Over.  Good times. Scott loved it.

-Daddy woke Bridger up at 5:45 a.m. to go fishing!  Early for our 9:00 a.m. riser.  One of the first things that Bridger said when he woke up was "Wanna see the birds!" (Which he could hear chirping away.)

-For about 24 hours after their return, Bridger wanted nothing to do with me--only wanted to be with Dad.  Scott had a smile on his face for about the same amount of time.  Another boys fishing trip is already in the works. What can I say--things are ALL BOY around here!
