Scott's Christmas Gift--12 Dates!

This year for Christmas I decided to use an idea I had found on Pinterest and put together 12 different dates for Scott and I to do throughout the year (one each month).  Of course, the dates that the person I got the idea from weren't catered to our interests or where we live so--I basically started from scratch.  Thinking it would be 'quick and easy', I soon realized that it would be a lot more work than originally anticipated.  I spent nap times researching dates, writing poems, ordering off Amazon and making shopping lists.  During errand runs I ran all over town picking up gift cards and small items to put in each of the envelopes.  When all was said and done, however, I think it all came together quite nicely.  Scott said it was his favorite gift (perhaps that was because he knew it was a lot of work!) and I think I'm looking forward to each date just as much as he is. ;)

Christmas morning
The tag on the front of the gift says:

To:  Scott
From:  Hydee

This is a gift to you from me
It comes straight from my heart, you see
For in twelve parts it will unfold
Throughout next year, or so I'm told
Each month has one day set aside
The envelopes will be your guide
For in each one is a planned date
A time for us to celebrate
The time we get with just us two
A lot of fun for me and you!

Merry Christmas, Scott!

Looking through each envelope...
I took pictures of what was in each of the envelopes.  Here are a few just to see what I mean...

Last Friday night we went on our January date--night skiing!  We had the best time on the slopes together and definitely enjoyed our kid-free evening. (Thanks to my parents who invited him for a sleepover!)  Scott humored me on the lift after every ride by putting the bar down so I'd have a place to rest my feet--those ski's are heavy!  (Aaaannnd...I may have been a little nervous about the windy conditions...)  What an awesome husband I have! ;)

Neither of us have been skiing/snowboarding since we got married (4 years) so it was fun to get back into the swing of things together and realize just how out of shape we are!  :)  We are looking forward to hitting the slopes again together in the next couple of weeks!

January Date=Date #1=Success!
