Rodeo Time!

Yeah, so I'll be playing catch-up here for a little while...

At the beginning of July we were able to go up to the Oakley Rodeo with Scott's family--an annual tradition. We had a great time but certainly missed the family that wasn't able to come. Since we arrived to Oakley a little earlier than anticipated, we stopped at a local fast food joint and enjoyed some shakes before rushing back to ensure a prime parking spot at the outdoor arena. We got in and seated just in time for The Star-Spangled Banner and the Rodeo Royalty to do their thing. Being the miserable and ornery pregnant woman that I was, I only snapped one picture the entire time we were there. Let's just say those metal bleachers aren't exactly the most comfortable things in the world. :) But, regardless, we had a great time and loved watching all of the events and the mini fireworks display afterward.

Our second rodeo experience for the year was the Days of '47 rodeo. For the past several years my mom has been able to get tickets and, being the avid rodeo fans that we are, we jump at the opportunity to go. The rodeo usually runs for the entire week of the 24th of July and this year it was held for the first time in the Maverick Center rather than the Energy Solutions Arena. As usual, our seats were amazing and we got to see a lot of cowboy action up close. My brother put it perfectly when he said, "Rodeo events are some of the most fun sports to watch but quite possibly the stupidest ones to participate in." The video that I caught of the last bull rider (below) truly proves that point.

Thanks for the tickets, Mom! We had an awesome time!
