Thanks to those of you who gave me encouragment on this being my last semester but unfortunately (maybe fortunately) you'll have to repeat yourself next semester. I've decided to stay in school and complete 12 credit hours more in order to obtain my certification to become a Family Life Educator. There are a couple of reasons that I've decided to do this and so here they are:
1) Up until this semester I never quite understood what being a FLE entailed. Now that I know, I think that is something I would really enjoying doing. (For those of you who don't know, FLE are those who work for a variety of institutions such as local governments, universities, rehabilitation centers, etc. and they run workshops, promotional campaigns and group sessions on ways to improve different avenues of family life.)
2) Before this semester NOBODY TOLD ME about this certification or what the benefits of getting it were. I am lucky that I happen to have taken most of the required courses (there are about 12 classes you must take). In fact, I was quite irritated that I found out about this during my supposed last semester rather than earlier on in my college career. Probably my fault, but a little more target advertising by the university would have been nice. I mean, if I've taken most of the classes shouldn't that classify me as someone who is interested? Hmph...
3) I get to add CFLE to the end of my name on my business card and my resume. It is no PhD but...I'll take what I can get for an undergraduate. Ahhh....Hydee F. Davis, CFLE it has a nice ring to it don't you think?
4) One of the things that I have found myself often saying while doing case studies is, "How did these people get into this mess?!" While therapy is all about repairing and healing damage already done, family life education is all about preventative strategies and helping people go from where they are to become better and have more healthy and established lives.
So that is me putting in my two cents and maybe even venting a little of my frustration. As hard as it is to know that I have another 8 months of commute rather than 4, another set of syllabi, and yet another finals week, I guess getting an education isn't all that bad right?....I'll let you know after graduation...

By the way, did anyone catch that game on Saturday? Unfortunately on the way to school this morning I saw a guy who had "UCLA Alumni" on his license plate...come to find out he is one of the cashiers here at the BYU bookstore! I guess that is one step above the janitor who graduated from the University of Utah. :) I just thought I would post this particular picture to cause some family drama and just let everyone know what is going down this season...look at that poor Ute on the ground...I almost feel bad.
