Bridger-isms

I am loving this age.  Bridger seriously cracks me up for most of the day with the things he comes up with.  He is talking a lot more now....which of course means that he repeats the things we say.  Here are a few of his latest....

--This morning while watching our dog run around the yard, he chanted "More!  More! More!"  As we were walking inside he said with excitement "Oh boy!"

--While walking through any parking lot, "Car (pointing), car (pointing), car (pointing), BUS!"--yes, there was  a city bus and he couldn't have been more excited.  (Usually he calls semi trucks buses...so that day was a big success.  :)

--Scott was standing on a step stool.  Bridger was trying to climb up it and Scott said, "Let's not do that."  Immediately Bridger repeated, "Let's not do that."  Scott's response?  "Uh, that was creepy." haha

--While looking at the pictures on our fridge Bridger went through all of the people he knows, "Ma-ma, Ba-pa, Mommy, Da-da, Nana, Papa, Puppy"  then he saw a picture of my brother and his wife, Megon.  Bridger shouted "May-May!" and then laughed to himself.  He was so proud.

--Almost daily we put Bridger's toys in a bucket and count them.  Bridger is really only interested in two numbers--2 & 8.  I say 'one'; he says 'two'; I say 'three'; he says 'two'....this continues until we get to 'eight'.  The other day I caught him counting by himself.  One by one he put his toys in each time saying, 'Two, eight, two, eight, two, eight"

--Randomly Bridger will say, "Please?" with the most sincere look on his face.  When I ask, "Please, what?"  He'll say, "More cookies? Okay!"

--Bridger is really into his Kazoo right now.  He walks around making it buzz while laughing at himself.  He  then hides it in my kitchen cupboards.  I know when he is looking for it because this is right where he goes.

--Every time he falls down it is 'Ouch!'...even if he isn't hurt.

--Ever since he was little we've called Bridger's boy parts his 'boy bits'.  As in, "Don't touch your boy bits."  I know, we're weird.  Bridger has now started loudly announcing any time he takes a bath or we change his diaper, "Bits!  Bits!"  Yes, Bridger, there they are.

--Bridger loves the vacuum.  Seriously loves it.  If I'm vacuuming he is right by my side yelling, "Va-coom!" at the top of his lungs.

--Bridger also loves, brooms, bikes, and lawnmowers ("mower").  We can't go into the garage without looking at each one and repeating it about 50 times.

--Whenever we ask Bridger for a hug he'll give us a kiss and say, "Bye!"  Or, on the occasion that he actually does give us a hug, he'll say, "Awww..." while laying his head on our shoulder.

--Bridger is a snuggly little boy.  He loves all of the stuffed animals that he keeps in his crib with him.  Every morning he shows me his cat and says, "Me-OW!" followed by snuggling it and saying, "Awwww...."  Next it is his duck, "Quack-quack!" more snuggling with an "Awwww....".  "Bay-ya (bear) is next ("Awww....") and his most recent addition is his new monkey.  "Ooo!  Aaaa!  Eeee!  Oooo!" ("Awwww...").  We are now ready for his diaper change.

--Bridger recently learned to identify Jesus ("Je-sess") in pictures.  Every bearded man is now Jesus.  We have a canvas wrap of Rembrandt's The Prodigal Son in our living room which Bridger always points to and says, "Je-sess!"  Church is also fun since there are so many pictures of Christ and we are supposed to be quiet.  Try explaining to this child he has to be quiet...He sees a picture and in pure excitement yells (every time)  "Je-Sess!!" over and over again.

--Bridger loves getting the mail.  He goes to our front door multiple times a day and says, "Mail?"  Unfortunately he has yet to realize that the mailman only comes once a day.  We usually go out to check if the mail has arrived 2 or 3 times before it actually comes just because the excitement is too much for his 14 1/2 month old brain to manage.

--When I'm changing Bridger's diaper he asks, "Stinky P.U.?"  In other words...Am I poopy?!

--Bridger says, "He-woahw" and "Hi" repeatedly while I'm on the phone.  He usually will also ask if it is 'Da-da?' or "MA-ma?" (Gramma)

--Bridger waves and says, "Hi" to everyone we pass in the store.  Most people are caught off guard and therefore they stop and talk to him.  This makes our grocery trips at least 20-30 minutes longer than necessary.

--Every time Bridger does what we ask, he expects us to applaud for him.  If we don't start on our own, he cues us by showing us that we are supposed to be clapping.

--Over the past few days we've discovered that Bridger likes to be scared out of his wits.  We run and hide behind a door.  He comes to find us and when he gets close we jump out and yell, "RAAWWR"  He has the most terrified look on his face but just starts laughing hysterically.  Last night Scott and I thought it would be fun to hide together and jump out at the same time.  When we did, he was so scared he fell over backwards and then collapsed into a fit of giggles.  I know that probably makes us mean parents...but he seems to like it and for the next 20 minutes until bedtime he wouldn't stop saying, "RAAAWWR!" over and over.

As you can tell, we think our little man is pretty great.  I am amazed at how much he is learning and how quickly he is picking things up.  I think he is a little smarty-pants. I know, I'm biased. :)  Some days I wish I had a video camera rolling the whole day just so I could capture every little thing.  But, alas, it is not possible.

We go at the end of the month for his 15 month checkup.  As for now, though--he no longer eats any baby food--he eats what we eat.  He has not had his binky for awhile.  We took it away during the day at 11 1/2 months and took it away at night and naps when he was 14 months old.  (Yeah, I'm one of those people that thinks it is ridiculous to see 2+ year olds with binkys...Sorry in advance if you are one of those people!)  I actually LOVE the fact that he doesn't use one anymore.  I feel like that has really fueled his desire to try and say new words.   Plus, as an added bonus, I don't have to cart one around all the time.

Well, that's all for now, folks!
