My Dad-The Tennis Star

Last Saturday my dad was invited back to BYU to play tennis in their alumni event.  My dad was recruited to BYU back in the early ''80's on an athletic scholarship and played for 4 years.   My dad was good--really good--and I grew up knowing that he wasn't just a dad--he was a tennis star. ;)

So--to Provo we went!  My mom,  Bridger and I went to support him back on his old stomping grounds.  Bridger had never been to a tennis match before (which has got to be some kind of a sin in my family--14 months and no tennis?!)  I snapped photos while Mom did her best to keep Bridger off the courts and limit the number of times he yelled 'Ba-PA!' to my not-so-focused father.  What can I say?  I think his priorities have changed a little bit over the last 25 years.  Suddenly waving to his grandson on the side of the court was much more important than winning.  I think his speed may have also slowed a bit over time.  Don't get me wrong--he can still spank most people--he just does it by placing the ball exactly where he wants it on the court and making the opponent run all over.

Basically what I'm saying is--my dad may have aged a bit, slowed a lot, and grown a beard--but he will always be a tennis star to me.
