Eventful Weekend

Last Friday morning I decided that my bangs needed to be trimmed...going against everything I've ever learned {yes, from experience} I decided to give them a little trim myself. Wrong move. By the time I was done they were not only uneven but much, much shorter than I had anticipated them being. I was getting ready to take Bridger to the doctor so I didn't exactly have time to get them fixed right away. I figured I'd just take care of it once I had his appointment out of the way. Well, you know it is pretty bad when the medical assistant AND the doctor say something about them despite my attempts to conceal. ha! What a nightmare. Dr. Cox was trying to make me feel better like, "Your haircut is kind of cool. It is like you are trendy or something." After walking out of their office I immediate text my sister-in-law, Megon. I admitted my sin and she agreed to help me out. Sadly, this is not the first time she has saved me from a hair disaster. A few months ago when I attempted to dye my hair myself--well, she fixed that too. Apparently I'm a VERY slow learner.

We decided that once she got off, Scott, Bridger & I would meet up at their place. She also, graciously, invited us over for a BBQ and a swim. Thinking it would be a great double date night, we jumped at the opportunity.

After we arrived to Patrick & Megon's, Megon fixed my hair and then we snuck away for a few minutes to attend my friend Brooke's wedding reception which was just down the road. We came back to grilled chicken, salad, glazed carrots and brownies for dessert. YUM!

Next up was swimming. Since it was Bridger's first time, we also invited my parents over to meet us and watch his reaction. Of course, there was a lot of documentation of his 'first'. He seemed to be unsure as to why everyone was inside of this giant bathtub with him but seemed to be enjoying it. Well, he was until Scott dunked him. ha! We swam for a few minutes and then he was ready to be done. Gramma snuggled him in a towel, changed him into his pjs and fed him a bottle while he watched the rest of us swim.

Saturday morning we woke up to discover that Bridger has a new tooth! He is now the proud owner of 3 teeth with 1 more coming any day.

Also on Saturday morning, we drove over to watch our nephew Cole play his soccer game. He did a great job and so did his teammates. My favorite part was watching all the boys 'chest bump' after they scored a goal. ;)

We spent the afternoon with Bridger's cousins at Wheeler Farm {#45 on my list!}--but not before eating lunch at Chipotle. {As an awkward side note--before we left Chipotle I went to use the restroom. I entered the one stall room through the door that said 'WOMEN' and walked in on one of the male workers who had apparently decided to use the girl's bathroom and forgot to lock the door. Hearing the handle turn, he stood up to try and quickly close the door. Unfortunately, I found myself standing in the very small room with a teenage boy whose pants were around his ankles. I high-tailed it out of there and decided to instead use the restrooms at Wheeler Farm.} Bridger enjoyed cruising around in the stroller and was fascinated by what he saw. I gave Henry the important job of telling Bridger what each of the animals were 'since Bridger doesn't know his animals yet'. Henry took that to heart and at each stop he explained all about the different animals. Jack was excited to see most of the animals--particularly excited about the horses--but, after the horse let out a big sigh while we were standing next to it, Jack was a little turned off to it and kept repeating, "That horse scared me. That really scared me." Poor kid. I think he was over it by the time we hit the donkey pen, though. We all enjoyed the donkey's 'hee-hawing'. (Henry: "What the heck is that noise?!") :)

The remainder of the weekend was spent doing 'not-so-eventful' things--grocery shopping, mowing the lawn, and then lounging around on Sunday afternoon. But, I guess it is nice to have a little of that thrown in as well.

I know putting pictures online that could possibly be used as blackmail is not the best idea, however i would have loved to see a picture of your own home made haircut...that made me laugh so hard when i read that!!!

good thing i read your blog so i know what my own kids did at wheeler farm! good grief. they did report to me that they got to tell bridger all of the animals. it made them feel pretty important to be given that responsibility.

that is hilarious about the restroom mix-up. i'll bet that kid will never forget to lock a bathroom door again in his life. [WHO forgets that anyway?!]

Well when we saw you Friday night at Brooke's reception I thought your bangs looked super cute...so either you're exaggerating how bad you cut them or your SIL did an amazing job. ;)

Bridger is such a little stud! It was fun to meet him in person even if it was only for a few minutes.

Glad you guys had a fun weekend!
