Ahh...Fall.

There really is something about the onset of Fall that changes things around here...not just the weather, but the entire atmosphere at our house. Maybe it has something to do with my love for butternut squash, Halloween, the falling leaves, or the coziness of a BYU sweatshirt in preparation for the weekend football game. Or, maybe it is the fact that soon I will be stuffing my face without guilt on that lovely third Thursday in November. For Scott, I know without a doubt that it is the onset of hunting season. But, whatever the case may be...Fall at our house every year brings a new sense of excitement and renewal.

This past weekend seemed to be the first 'Fall' weekend we've had. Scott & his coworkers left work early on Friday to head up the canyon to go fly fishing for a 'team building' activity. I know that fishing is something he loves to do and the fact that he was able do it during business hours put a smile on my face. It totally made my Friday. Oh, and the fact that my Dad came to visit and we went on a long walk with Bridger & Aspen.

Saturday brought with it chaos and excitement. I met up with my old college roommates (BAT + Erika) for lunch at Zupas to celebrate the arrival of Mr. B. It was so fun to see all of them and catch up. I am always amazed at how our different personalities compliment each other. Some day I'll have to post on this...we really are a uniquely well-rounded group.

{Ashley & her husband, David, made this diaper cake for me. So cute!}

That evening Scott had a soccer game (yes, he's still playing on the 25+ co-ed indoor championship soccer team). *chuckle* They won their game about 25 to 0 with Scott scoring a header goal. (They were up by so much Scott made a rule that you could only score with your head...) After the game we went up to my parents house where they were nice enough to watch Mr. B so we could have a date night. We ended up eating at Dylans and miniature golfing at Cherry Hill. Scott would kill me if I didn't highlight the fact that he won. And wow...I can't believe how much more I appreciate the time that I get to spend alone with Scott. :)

We slept in Kaysville and attended church with my parents on Sunday. Bridger acquired several new friends and I enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces. Mom made an amazing dinner and together we lounged around watching movies and strolling the streets of the neighborhood.

Yesterday (Monday) turned out to be a special day for Scott & I. We were able to attend our friend Jannica's sealing in the Salt Lake Temple. Jannica is honestly one of the most amazing girls I've ever met. When I met her, she had just graduated from high school and had nothing to do with the Church besides knowing some general things from her grandparents and friends. It wasn't until about a year after I quit that she contacted me and asked if Scott and I would arrange for her to have the missionary discussions in our home. We, of course, said we would love to have her. So, for several weeks she came and we were able to sit in with her as the missionaries taught her. In the past year we have seen her learn the gospel, gain a testimony, obtain a temple recommend and be married in the temple. Seriously...what an amazing girl. I was touched when after the ceremony Scott said, "Jannica-we are so proud of you" and she responded by saying, "I'm so proud of myself!" :) While I'm certain it was incredibly difficult for Jannica to be married without her parents present, we are so proud of her decisions and the opportunity we had to take part in her special day.

{needless to say...today we are pretty pooped.}
