Newport Trip: Day 6

Thursday my awesome husband took me to Disneyland! We woke up early and made it to the park around 8:30. As we were pulling into the parking lot this guy who was working there saw our license plate and asked Scott if he had gone to BYU. He was undoubtedly a Mormon looking for a fellow Mormon friend. When Scott said, "yes" the guy slipped Scott two buttons which said, "We're Celebrating" with Mickey Mouse balloons on them. As Scott and I got on the shuttle my mind started going crazy wondering what the buttons were for. I told Scott, "What if they are free tickets to the park! That would be sweet!" Scott said, "What if we got to go to the front of every line?!" As our minds wandered I told Scott that he had better wear his button so everyone could see it...I had already put mine on the front of my shirt .5 seconds after receiving it. So, he put it on the strap of his satchel and off we went to the ticket counter. We handed the lady our card to pay for the tickets and Scott 'casually' mentions, "So, does this (pointing to the button) do anything for me?" The lady looked at him as if he were a little crazy and said, "Uh, nope." haha...well, it was worth at shot, right?! Needless to say, we were a little sad to see throughout the day that SEVERAL people were wearing the buttons. None of them got any special privileges either...

{showing off our buttons...before we knew that they didn't do anything}

After a short 25 minute wait in line for Indiana Jones, we got Scott a drink and walked around a few stores. Megan, Dave and our nephew, Porter, met up with us after that and we all spent the day together. The first ride all of us went on was Buzz Lightyear! Porter was sporting his Buzz Lightyear shirt that says, "To infinity and beyond!" when you push the button. So cool. This was Scott's favorite ride because he got to score points by shooting targets. Throughout the day he kept mentioning how badly he wanted to return and go on that ride again. But, with all that Disneyland had to offer, it didn't happen.

{love this picture...}

{on the alice in wonderland ride!}

{our nephew, Porter, enjoying a gigantic sucker and wearing his Buzz shirt...do they make those in adult size because I'm pretty sure Scott wants one}

Other fun rides we went on included Finding Nemo, Matterhorn Mountain, Alice in Wonderland, the Jungle Cruise, the Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain Railroad, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Pirates of the Carribean, It's a Small World, and Space Mountain. Scott and I were SO proud of Porter (who is only 3 1/2) for going on the big rides! We really couldn't believe that he was old enough to go on Space Mountain but he did awesome and only got 'a little scared'!

{We were SO glad we got to spend time with these guys at Disneyland since they live so far away! Thanks for hanging out with us! We had such a blast with you and wish we could see you A LOT more often!}

{it's a small world after all...it's a small world after all...it's a small world after all...}

Other fun things we did throughout the day included getting giant mint chocolate chip sundaes, watching the Billy Hill and the Hillbillies show, dancing with all of the characters in their Celebrate! parade, and going to Toontown to meet Mr. Mickey Mouse himself.

{Scott & Me with Mickey! Scott was a little mad at Mickey for kissing me but still in good enough spirits to take a picture with the three of us :) }

{Dave & Scott...the two bankers of the family}

Before we decided to head out for the night, Scott and I went on Splash Mountain and then Scott bought me one of the Mickey ears hats with my name on the back. I have just always wanted one. :)

{last pic of the day...showing off the ears and lookin' pretty tired}

A special thanks to Scott for suffering through a day of crowds, lines and discomfort to satisfy his wife's desire to channel her inner 5 year old.

Thursday was also Scott's parents 40th anniversary! We were sad that we didn't have a chance to be with them on their special day but from what we hear they went out to dinner...just the two of them...just the way it should be. :) Congrats on 40 years! We love you!

{A special thanks to Chelsea for taking and then sharing this picture..}

That looks like such a fun trip. I need you to plan a trip for us. Newport is probably one of my most favorite places to go. You are so cute Heidi. I'm so glad you're so happy. When are you going to convince Megon to start a blog by the way? I want to see wedding pics and stuff.

How fun! Interestingly, you have the same expression on your face, Hydee, that you had when you were just a young girl and we took you to Disneyland! Brings a tear to my eye! ...haha I'm glad you had so much fun!
