Ride 'Em Cowboy

The Fourth of July was a fun day for this Davis Family but it all started the night before. Scott knows that one of the things I love most about this time of year are the fireworks shows (particularly the Kaysville fireworks). I got home from work around 7:30 and Scott was slaving away in the kitchen with dinner on the table for us. After an unexpected visit from our Bishop and a wonderful dinner, Scott told me that he had a surprise for me. We got in the car and drove up to Bountiful where Eagle Ridge Golf Course was putting on a big fireworks show. Scott and I pulled a blanket out of the back and laid it on top of the car where we watched the show together. It was so thoughtful of him to do! After the fireworks were over, we went to Nielsen's Custard where we enjoyed a post-fireworks treat together. What a wonderful husband I have! As we drove back home we saw a fireworks show in the general direction of our house. We came closer and closer while driving through clouds of smoke. Come to find out, the city puts on a fireworks show for three days in a row around the Fourth of July...at the park right behind our house. :)

We spent the next morning (Independence Day) sleeping in and watching a few episodes of Friends before getting ready for the celebration and cleaning up the house a bit. Tyler and Chels came over with the boys to hang out for a while before heading over to the BBQ with family and friends. Something I wasn't aware of is the Davis family's passion for Brats...one of those foods that I just can't ever see myself having a craving for. Needless to say, Scott ate mine and I enjoyed the rest of the yummy food.

We were then off to the Oakley Rodeo! Scott was a little upset that I had forgotten my cowboy boots and hat but we were all geared up in our shirts and the complementary "Buck the Snuff" bandannas they were handing out. Our cute nephews also seemed to be enjoying every minute of it as they sported their cowboy hats and watched the barrel racing, bull riding, calf roping and the fireworks show. I believe I can speak for all when I say we had a great time!

One of the highlights of the day for me was that I was able to spend time with both sides of our family. My parents came out for the Davis family celebration which meant a lot to me. The only person missing from my side was Patrick who spent the day at Grandma and Grandpa's.

All in all, Scott and I had a wonderful first Independence Day celebration together! :)

Mmmm...braaaats...Well at least you had on a sexy cowgirl shirt! I didn't even remember I had one until I saw yours, dangit. And I debated on the cowboy boots...but my comfy Reef flip flops won out. They win every time.

Ahh!!! I'm so excited you two are bloggers now. It'll be so much easier to keep in contact while I'm in Jerusalem. Looks like you are doing wonderful. I miss you both, but I'm surviving here. We just got back from Egypt, so I'll have to post a few pics when I'm not half-asleep. Love you!!!
