You might be wondering how all of these variables connect but I must tell you that each comprised a part of our Friday night activities last week. My mom was able to get six tickets to the Days of '47 Rodeo at the Energy Solutions Arena downtown so instead of having Scott come all the way home just to turn around and go back, I rode Trax downtown where we met my parents for dinner. They decided to go to a Chinese Restaurant just off of North Temple and so there we went. It was an interesting dinner full of conversation revolved around hunting and the latest duck boats (so that part was typical) but the best part came when Scott and the waiter collided. Shards of glass were sent across the table along with water and Coke. Mom got most of the water in her lap and a think each of us got a little of the mixture. After switching tables and refilling our glasses, we were able to eat some authentic Chinese food...mmmm....
We left the restaurant and headed to the rodeo to meet up with Patrick and Liz. We had really good seats on the third row down in the dirt so we were so excited when they started all of the events. Bull riding, calf roping, milking, barrel racing, and the YMCA were all part of the fun. A couple of events into the rodeo, I noticed that several very tall Middle Eastern men were beginning to sit in front of us. After mom made a couple of jokes about them being a Middle-Eastern basketball team, Scott said, "No, they really are! I saw in on the news that they were in town!" A few minutes later the announcer came on and said, "We'd like to welcome the Irani basketball team who are here visiting. They will be playing the Utah Jazz tomorrow night so go on out and support them!" Of all the random things to see...
After the rodeo was over, Scott and I rode Trax back to our station and drove the rest of the way home where Liz and Patrick were waiting for us. The plan was to watch a movie but it just didn't seem like a good idea considering it was already about 11:00.
